Montvale, NJ (March 7, 2014) – Contributing to efforts that help shape the manufacturing industry worldwide, ei3 Corporation, a global leader in remote monitoring and remote services technology for machine manufacturers, has joined the Organization for Machine Automation and Control (OMAC).

Company leaders at ei3 believe that the ISA88 Technical Report developed by OMAC’s packaging workgroup for the PackML standard will enable machines to become more easily integrated into manufacturing lines, and operated and maintained thereafter. As a member of OMAC, ei3 plans to participate actively in the development of these standards as they apply to remote monitoring.

For the last decade, OMAC has been developing PackML as a standard set of models and procedures designed to improve efficiencies in system performance and programming. Since its inception, PackML has been implemented across a wide variety of control platforms.

“OMAC has done amazing work in defining standards that help unify the global manufacturing community. We’re looking forward to helping OMAC and member companies harness the latest advancements to improve efficiencies across these industries.”

To start, the majority of ei3’s involvement will be the in the Packaging Workgroup (OPW), where the company sees many applications in which remote monitoring can help improve packaging lines’ Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), availability, productivity and quality.

“As the Industrial Internet continues to shape the way manufacturers operate, there needs to be careful focus on the needs of those companies that will best benefit from these technologies,” added Cramer. “OMAC has their finger on the pulse of manufacturing, and will be instrumental in guiding the industry toward new advancement. We’re excited to be a part of that effort.”
